RKG Emblem Design Contest

Help shape the future of the Guild’s look! We’re creating a new visual identity to launch with our redesigned website next fall — and we want you to be part of it.

The guild’s next logo will be chosen with a Ranked Choice Vote. Rank the submissions from your most to least favorite to contribute your voice to our look. Scroll down to learn more about our logo submissions, and to see each design with and without the guild’s name to see how it might be used on our website, in our fliers, and on promotional materials.

RKG’s classic emblem, remastered for our modern usage. Shown are two sheep knitting and chatting together. The sheep are knitting from each other’s wool, illustrating the community and care that we provide to each other as a guild.

The Wheat Stitch; inspired by the wheat grain’s similarity to knit textile, this emblem connects to Rochester’s roots as the flour/flower city.

These designs feature a likeness to Rochester’s iconic flower emblem, recreated in our favorite medium — yarn. The Yarn Flower incorporates both a knitting needle and a crochet hook as a symbol of inclusivity and overlap across the two crafts and amongst our community.

This is a flexible mark/brand/word combination that suits the format it’ll be displayed in. The recipe is the font, interplay between letters, weight, color (purple, green, soft vintage textures), opacity, size, and spacing.
A serif typeface was chosen to honor the guild’s history and longevity, conveying experience, craftsmanship, and trust. The use of purple represents our strong sense of community, creativity, and connection. Tying the mark to ROC grounds the logo locally, reinforcing our identity within the greater Rochester community.

Overall, the design reflects what we value most: our love of craft, our members, our service to the community, our history, and our creativity.
